We have become very attached to our cell phones, computers, and other technological devices, but we still see them merely as tools. With the rise of more humanoid or zooid “digital objects”, however, this role of technology is starting to change. Our tools and toys now react to our behavior, and we start to react to their behavior in return. Does this interaction lead to a relationship with our digital objects? Do we start to accept them as companions, i.e. pets, friends, or partners? What are the guidelines or behavioral/shape characteristics that make us treat with more care and attachment the more human or animal-like objects than other objects? Do we need to give human or animal characteristics to artificial objects to accept them as our companions?TutorsDaniel Pinkas
