But what if your parents are the ones in the circus? What if you grow up in the circus or if you really end up joining one to support yourself and your family?
Circuses have always been surrounded by a mystery of poetry and drama, which contributed to make them charming and pathetic at the same time. Thus, the only way to understand more about it is to dip oneself into it, as already directors, photographers, artist did. But if a designer does, what is he going to get out from the circus world?
Maybe he will realize that the place of chaos, precariousness, leisure and superficiality par excellence, is indeed a model of business in which all the components and roles are ably managed. And he can also perceive the complete awareness of spaces, objects and tasks needed to carry on such machine of wonders and how everybody in it must take their art and their work very very seriously. Maybe in the end he will be able to find parallels between circus and the design systems, reconsidering the roles of pleasure, playfulness and seriousness in the design activity.
