Some of them are still in use, but the most are almost forgotten. Still we don't know Butti's design process, nor why he drew those precise shapes, how much he was influenced by the market or who were his costumers. Goal of the research is to analyze Butti's typefaces in a technical manner trying to understand the relationships between them and the font market and the graphic design panorama of the 1940s and 50s.
The research finds its place in a broader project of recovery of the Italian typographic tradition, especially of those components that didn't follow the evolution of technologies and markets in the last century.
