Analysts anticipate that by 2020 fifty billion devices are interconnected and form the so called “Internet of Things” (IoT). The constantly increasing amount of sensors will make our environment more accessible for services and applications of different kinds. Homes, cities and lastly the world will converge to a smart and efficient environment for future generations.

By building a tool, a platform that enables simple communication between devices, designers, artists and hackers can use this kind of technology today. Including this technology in a design process, will generate new perspectives on the design of such "connected objects". By using the tool in several workshops, courses and projects with students new possibilities will be explored. All the research, learnings and examples will be packed into a book, that should make this topic even more accessible for newcomers.
