In our globalized world it becomes more and more indispensable to speak foreign languages. In Swiss schools it is obligatory to learn at least a second national language in addition to English. But learning languages isn’t always fun. In particular, grammar is often seen as boring, complicated and abstract. However, does it have to be that way? Using the French language as an example, the Master’s thesis aims to explore different approaches to teaching grammar in a more motivating way and to design the grammar in a way that can be more easily memorized. The learning
process is supported through exploratory learning that involves interactions and analogies which visualize the abstract concepts.
