Film, Video, Games: Whenever Criticism is offered, the topic of violence is brought to the spotlight. Do violent games make us more violent? Does it make a difference whether we consume media passively or interactively regarding our aggressive potential? These questions have been on researchers minds for years - it might be said that no conclusive results have yet been reached.
A lot of studies have been conducted about how media might influence its consumer, little research has been aimed at the reflection of the consumer. In limited prototypes I explore the possibilities of leading the consumer to a more thoughtful, more reflected consumption of the medium of video games. For those prototypes I use established concepts and mechanical language to meet the consumer on a familiar ground, and then distort known stereotypes and expected in-game roles.
