The Alice stories have influenced science, art and culture. The theory paper examines the surreal motifs of the novels and puts them in relation to the subsequent art movement of surrealism. Image clusters point to the main visual motifs. They serve as a basis for the practical part of the master thesis.

For the two-part publication (Re)view Alice, a visual language based on the theoretical work has been developed. One part of the editorial design includes photographies and text extracts. The other part reflects the scientific and cultural discourse about the Alice books.

The large format refers to the literary work. The feeling of irritation, reversing and changing size is implicitly conveyed. Format and layout let the reader experience the content physically. So the book takes on the directors role, and we experience the world of Wonderland as Alice, the protagonist of the story.
